Während es bei uns in Österreich noch kaum Bewerbe im Frühsommer gibt, finden unsere Athleten zumindest einige Läufe im südlichen Europa vor. Heute Abend waren Purity Kajuju GITONGA, Dickson Simba NYAKUNDI, Stanley Nijhia KAMAU und Julius Kariba NJERI beim Bahnmeeting in Nembrio in der italienischen Provinz Bergamo über die 3000m am Start.
While there are still hardly any competitions in early summer here in Austria, our athletes at least find some runs in southern Europe. Tonight Purity Kajuju GITONGA, Dickson Simba NYAKUNDI, Stanley Nijhia KAMAU and Julius Kariba NJERI competed in the 3000m at the track meeting in Nembrio (province of Bergamo) in Italy.
Für Purity war es der zweite Bewerb innerhalb von sechs Tagen und eine weitere Bestätigung ihrer toller Form. Nach der persönlichen Bestleistung über 5000m in Nizza vergangenen Samstag, war sie nun in Nembrio am Start.
Die ersten drei Runden blieb sie noch in der vorderen Gruppe in Lauerposition, um sich dann von der Gruppe schnell abzusetzen und den Rest des Rennes allein zu gestalten. Souverän hielt sie ihr Tempo und ihre Konkurrentinnen auf Distanz. Purity finishte überlegen in phantastischen 8:50.51 und erneut in neuer PB! Congratulations, very well done!
For Purity it was the second competition within six days and another confirmation of her great form. After her personal best over 5000m in Nice last Saturday, she now competed in Nembrio.
For the first three laps she stayed behind the pacemaker, but then quickly broke away from the group and ran the rest of the race on her own. She kept her pace and her competitors at a distance. Purity finished in a fantastic 8:50.51 and again in a new PB! Congratulations, very well done!

Während Simba in den ersten Runden das Tempo in der Führungsgruppe als Pacemaker vorgab, waren Stanley und Julius von Beginn nicht vorne dabei. Ab Runde vier fiel Simba etwas zurück und wurde schließlich 9. im Feld. Der Sieg ging an den Südafrikaner Motsau.
Unfortunately, the men’s race over 3000m was a bit disappointing from run2gether’s point of view.
While Simba was able to set the pace for the leading group in the first laps, Stanley and Julius were not among the front runners from the beginning. From lap 4 onwards, however, Simba dropped back a bit and finally finished 9th in the field. The victory went to the South African Motsau.
Noch ein Nachtrag zum vergangenen Wochenende:
Beim Straßenrennen in Saronno (Va) konnte sich Julius Kariba NJERI auf der 2 x 5 Km Runde, trotz sehr hoher Temerpaturen mit knapp 30 ° durchsetzen und gewann die 10 km in 30:29!
In Kroatien belegte beim Karlovac 10km Run (Worldathletics Bronze Label Race) Dickson Simba Nyakundi den starken 2. Platz in 29.24, gefolgt vom S7Halbmarathon und Olympia Starter Nicolas Navarro aus Frankreich. Stanley Kamau enttäuschte mit Platz 6.

At the road race in Saronno (Va) Julius Kariba NJERI could prevail on the 2 x 5 km round, despite very high temperatures with almost 30 ° and won the 10 km in 30:29!
