The national and international field of participants for the S7 Marathon is growing daily.
In the next weeks we would like to introduce some runners to you:
With Eva Wutti, a former world-class triathlete, and 4-time(!) Ironman winner comes to Styria. After many years in the triathlon sport, she is now fully focused on the third discipline – the marathon! Since 2018 she has been improving steadily in an impressive way and could already qualify for the World Championships in 2019, accompanied by our run2gether pacemaker Charles Juma Ndiema at the Vienna Marathon (2:34h)!
With the tailwind of her personal best of 2:30.43 set in Vienna in December, she now wants to solve her ticket to Tokyo via the S7Marathon2021!
Cameron Levins – Kanada
The sporting resume of the Canadian is that of a runner in a class of its own! He is a multiple World Championship participant, competed at the 2012 Olympic Games in the 5000m and 10000m, was a bronze medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the 10000m, and was a member of the successful Nike Oregon Project until 2017. His best times on the track are 13:15min (5000m) and 27:07min (10000m).
In 2018, Cameron decided to focus more on road running. That he is not less talented for the longer distances is proven by the fact that directly his first marathon in Toronto 2018 made him the Canadian record holder in 2:09:25! Hopefully he will reach his goal to run over the S7 to Tokyo!
We are happy to introduce the first half marathon athlete, the newly crowned 10km national champion Julia Mayer! With the 28-year-old Asics athlete comes a now ten-time Austrian national champion and cross-country run European Championship participant to us, who actually only came to running in 2017. After 16 years as a soccer player, she swapped her soccer shoes for running shoes and immediately won her first state championship title. Since then, her full focus has been on running and her big goal: the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games!
After her new best performance over 10km in 33:47min Julia will surely be at the start of the S7 Half Marathon with an extra portion of motivation!
Juan Joel Pacheco – Mexiko
A real top athlete for our S7HalfMarathon is Juan Joel Pacheco! With the Mexican we are looking forward to the current bronze medalist of the Pan American Games (Lima, Peru 2019) in the marathon! With this success and a fantastic 2020 running year, Juan Pacheco has become a real running heavyweight in the Pan American running scene!
Juan is very lucky to be able to run liberated at the S7 half marathon, because he already has his ticket for Tokyo 2021 in his pocket! With a time of 2:09,45h he could solve this in December in Valencia 2020!
His way to Tokyo therefore leads at the S7 over the half distance. But since he can show a real top PB here with 61:20min (Gydina 2020), Juan Pacheco should be a name to remember in terms of front places at the S7 half marathon!
Not even 10 years ago, the then 20-year-old was still a hobby handball player. Through his father, he tried a 5 km run in Breda, without training. Motivated by this, he decided to change his lifestyle in the coming time and join a running club. From then on Bjorn developed in an impressive way and after 4 years he was able to improve his PB over 5 km to under 15min! In the meantime, Bjorn has been running at the top European level for some time now and he is part of the NN running team that became world famous through Eliud Kipchoge! At the invitation race in Dresden he managed a PB of 62:45 over the half marathon and in December he won the marathon in Vienna in 2:11:07. Now he wants to crown his development at the S7 Marathon and qualify for Tokyo!
Emily Setlack – Kanada
Emily has been a professional athlete for 15 years. She is an extremely versatile runner who has had great success both on the roads and off. As a result, she can call herself the Canadian champion in the half marathon, 5,000m and mountain running. In 2018, she participated in the Women’s Half Marathon World Championships and in the same year she finished eleventh at the World Mountain Running Championships in Andorra.
Emily is a great example that even as a slightly older athlete, you can still experience leaps in performance. At the 2019 Canadian Olympic Trials Marathon, she improved to a time of 2:29.48 in the marathon! And despite now being almost 40 years old, she ran a fantastic new half marathon best time of 71:40 in 2020. With this PB, she can now attack the Tokyo qualifier at S7!
We are proud of this top-class field of participants and look forward to each and every athlete!
