Spannung bis zum letzten Lauf bietet der WMRA Berglauf Weltcup 2021. Während Geoffrey Gikuni NDUNGU um den zweiten Gesamtrang kämpft, führt bei den Damen unsere Joyce Muthoni NJERU das Klassement an. Für beide war die Reise nach Spanien am vergangenen Wochenende dementsprechend wichtig.
Zumaia-Gipuzkoa im Baskenland war der Weltcuport am letzten Sonntag. 22 Km mit 850 Hm war die Aufgabe, die die Bergläufer*innen beim Zumaia Flysch Trail bei Wind und strömenden Regen zu bewältigen hatten.
The WMRA Mountain Running World Cup 2021 offers suspense until the last race. While Geoffrey Gikuni NDUNGU fights for the second overall place, our Joyce Muthoni NJERU leads the women’s ranking. For both of them the trip to Spain last weekend was accordingly important.
Zumaia-Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country was the World Cup venue last Sunday. 22 km with 850 m of altitude was the task the mountain runners had to master at the Zumaia Flysch Trail in wind and pouring rain.
Mit den schwierigen Bedingungen kamen unsere run2gether Athleten Joyce (1:41.32) und Gikuni (1:36.48) am besten zurecht. Für beide endete der nasskalte Arbeitstag mit einem Sieg und wichtige Punkte für die Gesamtwertung! Very well done, herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Our run2gether athletes Joyce and Gikuni coped best with the difficult conditions. For both of them the cold and wet working day ended with a victory and important points for the overall ranking! Very well done, congratulations!

Maratonina Città di Udine
Auch in Italien gab es einen weiteren Bewerb für unser Team. In Udine waren Teresiah Kwamboka OMOSIA, Dickson Simba NYAKUNDI, James Murithi MBURUGU und Lengen LOLKURRARU über den Halbmarathon im Einsatz. 
Bei starker Konkurrenz aus Kenia feierten Teresiah und Simba tolle Erfolge ein. Unser superschnelles Ehepaar erreichte einen Sieg für Teresiah und einen guten zweiten Platz für Simba. Murithi erreichte den 4. Gesamtplatz und Lengen den 7. Rang in der Wertung.

There was also another competition for our team in Italy. In Udine, Teresiah Kwamboka OMOSIA, Dickson Simba NYAKUNDI, James Murithi MBURUGU and Lengen LOLKURRARU competed in the half marathon. 
With strong competition from Kenya, Teresiah and Simba celebrated great successes. Our super fast couple achieved a win for Teresiah and a good second place for Simba. Murithi finished 4th overall and Lengen 7th in the standings.
We are happy with all the athletes of our team for their successes last weekend! Congratulations team run2gether!
